For Delta's 100th year of flight, a new onboard safety film — 'A Hundred Years of Safety' — that turns a mandatory FAA briefing into a journey through a century of air travel, all while delivering clear, compliant safety instruction.
The story
The film takes customers through the decades of air travel starting in the 1920s, featuring 11 Delta logos and 10 employees in historically accurate pilot stylings and flight attendant uniforms, sourced by archivists from the Delta Flight Museum — with a cameo of the iconic 'Deltalina' from Delta's 2008 safety video. Every cultural reference is woven around the safety information mandated for all U.S. airlines.
Developed over several months in close coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure every requirement was met, the video plays daily for hundreds of thousands of customers across more than 165,000 seatback screens throughout Delta's fleet.

The craft
The challenge: honor a hundred years of Delta history and hold a traveler's attention, without ever compromising the clarity of safety-critical instruction. The result threads cultural nostalgia through rigorous compliance — a reminder that the most-watched piece of content an airline makes can also be its most thoughtful.
"Our safety video is viewed by hundreds of thousands of customers every day from all walks of life, so it's the perfect creative venue to honor our history and people while captivating the attention of customers as they prepare for takeoff." — Maya Dukes, Managing Director of Global Brand Strategy, Creative & Social, Delta Air Lines
